Get to Know Your Board Members

By Steph DePascal

With the start of a new year for the Windsor Square Special Planning District, I thought it might be helpful if you knew a little bit about each of the hardworking individuals who volunteer their time to benefit our neighborhood. If you should ever want to contact one of your board members, please go to the Windsor Square Web Site, www.windsorsquarephoenix.org, and click on board members!

Noelle Baker, President

Noelle moved to her Orange Drive home in Windsor Square in September, 2010. Noelle’s career has been in marketing and advertising, split between Phoenix, where she was born and raised, and Honolulu. She recently returned to Phoenix to make a home for her daughter and two granddaughters. From 1979 to 1994, Noelle lived in a small north Phoenix community where she was instrumental in organizing that neighborhood to address key issues including moving the neighborhood into the Madison School District, preserving the desert environment and noise abatement. She previously served as Board vice president and is fundraising chair for the 2012 Home Tour.

Anthony (Tony) Ashton, Vice President

From four months old Tony has been a Phoenician and lived the the North Central corridor.  He has lived in Windsor Square twice, once at 210 E. Medlock and currently at 321 E. Medlock. A graduate of ASU, his professional resume includes a long career in the residential housing market followed by a second career in banking. His immediate family includes his wife Highty and their dog Lily.  In his spare time Tony enjoys flower and vegetable gardening, traveling, reading, and walking Lily about Windsor Square.

Stephanie DePascal, Secretary

Stephanie and her daughter, Susan Myers, moved into Windsor Square in 2003 and are currently well known for having their two Labradors, Oscar and Gracie, hold court in their front yard on Orange Drive. Steph is retired after thirty years as an executive assistant in Tucson, first for the Arizona Children’s Home and then with Northwest Hospital & Medical Center. She worked closely with the Boards of Trustees for both organizations, and also with the CEOs and CFOs. Steph was born and raised in Neenah, Wisconsin, spent ten years in Boulder, Colorado and moved to Tucson in 1967. She and her second husband married in 1972, creating a blended family of nine children which has now grown to 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to volunteering to show their home on the 2006 Windsor Square Home Tour, Steph has volunteered many hours on the 2006, 2008 and 2010 Home Tour Committees and is Chair of the 2012 Home Tour.

Sean O’Donnell, Treasurer

Sean and his wife Amy relocated to the Valley in 2000 and moved to Windsor Square in 2004. He was born and raised in New Orleans, lived in Fort Worth, TX while attending Texas Christian University, then moved to Denver where he met Amy and attended grad school at the University of Colorado. After seven years working in the finance department of America West/US Airways in Phoenix, Sean recently began a career in financial services. Sean and Amy can be seen on frequent walks in the neighborhood with their Boston Terrier, Finn McCool. They love urban living and the walking distance to shops and restaurants that our neighborhood offers. The Board is very glad to have someone with Sean’s credentials serving as Treasurer.

John Corcoran, Member at Large

John with his wife, Kate, and sons Bennett and Kellan moved to 200 E. Colter in April 2011.  John spent 15 years in hospitality management and has worked at many Phoenix area restaurants. He currently works for an insurance company which caters to military members and their dependents. John loved being a soccer dad and playing with his boys.  A current craze is trail running throughout the beautiful Valley preserves and he just completed his first half marathon (PF Chang’s). John and his family enjoy living in the center of the city and enjoying all there is to do near Windsor Square.

Blake Hastings, Member at Large

A transplant from California, Blake moved to Arizona eight years ago and has lived in Windsor Square for the past six years. He owned a townhome in Mammoth Lakes, California, and served on the homeowners association for 15 years, ten of which he was the president. In all those years, they completed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of projects with no special assessments, a near impossible feat. With this background, Blake brings valuable experience to the Windsor Square Board. Blake’s home was featured in the 2010 Home Tour as a “garden only” featuring a unique landscape, all designed and planted by Blake who is passionate about design, color and construction. He is currently in sales and works for Garage Floor Coating here in the Valley.

Maureen Mackey, Member at Large

Maureen, better known as “Mo,” has lived in Windsor Square for the last ten years. She and her husband, Mike, have two college-aged children and are now empty nesters. Mo has worked as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for the past 25 years. She will tell you that her hobbies include reading and tile mosaics. However, if you were fortunate enough to see the mosaic artistry displayed in her charming home during the 2010 Windsor Square Home Tour, you would think it was a professional calling! Mo has served on a variety of school boards: Weekday, Saint Francis, Brophy and West Point Parent’s Club. In addition she has volunteered for years at Saint Vincent DePaul. Mo has lived in the Central Phoenix area all of her life and certainly has a vested interest in keeping our neighborhood a viable, desirable and safe community.

Alex Meyers

Alex and Arja Meyers have enjoyed living a 693 E. Colter since March, 2009.  They are joining there by 5-year-old Oscar, a black Labrador retriever.  Alex is the president of a business in downtown Phoenix that primarily focuses on the hospitality industry.  He brings creativity, enthusiasm and innovative skills from his business experience into his role of the board.  Alex has already worked with Windsor Square residents and city officials on local traffic issues.  When time permits, Alex and Arja love to cook and travel together.

Kristy Roschke

Kristy and Tim Roschke moved to 222 E. Orange in August 2011 and instantly fell in love the their new neighborhood. The central location and ability to walk to so many great local businesses are huge perks, but the friendly and welcoming neighbors have been the biggest bonus. Their German Shorthaired Pointer, Maggie, agrees.  Kristy is a two-time ASU graduate, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications.  She teaches journalism at Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Cronkite School downtown where she teaches digital media and graphic design courses.
